Difference between Shenzen and Hong Kong

nothing

So I went to China yesterday, with some buddies. Going into it I though it was going to be the same thing as Hong Kong. It wasn’t. The air was different. The people were different. And most importantly the street food was different. And I did not see one single sui mai. I was kind of disappointed. But we really didn’t look for sui mai, so. But it was China, so. Still, I was sad there was no sui mai in me that day. Still the food was good. We ate a lot. I guess another cheat day, right? I really need to get serious with my diet, just kidding my diet is fine, I think. But anyways, let me start from the beginning.

You see in life, there are going to be rainy days. This isn’t going to be a motivational post by the way. Just making a point it was raining yesterday. I slept pretty early the day before, like 3am early. So I woke up around 11am. I was awaken by the thunder. I seriously thought the lightning hit one of the buildings, and I just went back to sleep. But I got up an hour later and It stopped. I texted my friend, “it stopped raining, Shenzen?” She replied with, “It might still rain later.” Ugh. I took a deep breath. It was a Saturday. I should write a seperate blog post of how I get depressed by wasting a day not doing anything, I thought yesterday was going to be one of those days. I hate days when I just stay inside. Even though, I’m productive, it just feels bad to stay inside. Anybody feel me? Just something about staying inside, it doesn’t feel natural to a human being. Anyways an hour later, I get interupted reading my 200 page book (I printed it from the school library, it took a solid minute to print it, I’m on chapter 3 since the writing of this blog). My friend, Tam, replies “Let’s go.” I was stoked, yes! I’m going to China. The visa to go to China wasn’t cheap, so I was determined to get my money’s worth. I quickly put on my shorts and t-shirt and headed the fuck out. I met Tam at the station. Then we met 2 other friends at another station. Then we took the train all the way to the edge of Hong Kong. I got reminded of my other friend who let me stay at his house for 3 days when I first came, he lives at the edge of Hong Kong. There were huge lines for immigration. So many people. Why the fuck are they going to China? I thought of sui mai.

I don’t know about what it is with Chinese people(no offense if any Chinese people are reading this) but they are kind of rude. They have no fucks given whatsoever. Sometimes I wish I could be like them. I’m just making a generalization here, of what I experienced. They would like cut in front of whoever’s in front. And they are so close to you, like gives no fucks about personal boundaries. Other than that, they are pretty loud. Other than that, they have good food. Especially the hot pot we ate for dinner. It was spicy. If you know me, I don’t really do spicy. I mean I can do it, but like I don’t prefer it. Call me a bitch, I don’t like spicy food. But the hot pot was amazing. The street food was untrustworthy, my friends said it was dirty. But we still bought some anyways(yolo right? My stomach is squeezing my insides as I write). Yeah the street food was suspect. I would have to give the win card to Hong Kong. The difference between Hong Kong and Shenzen is Shenzen has coins instead of an octopus card. That’s it. Just kidding. But the coin thing was pretty cool. The coin was used for the train. Other than those things, I feel like the 2 cities are the same. They both have tall buildings, malls, trains, and a Mcdonald’s. So as every other city right?

P.S. When we were going back from Shenzen I almost did not come back to Hong Kong because I did not look like my passport photo. Then my friend said I looked handsome in my passport photo. Sigh.
