How to Become an ADAMANT Delegate

You need to run an ADAMANT node. You will also need 3,000 ADM tokens for the new delegate registration fee, and receive enough users’ votes.

Choose the adamant user:

Then install Adamant-console from npm repositories.

The application already has a default config, but you will need to correct it to become an ADAMANT delegate.

First, create .adm directory and copy default config to this directory:

Then modify config with any text editor (nano in example). You need to change the network parameter from testnet to mainnet and setup your delegate’s passphrase:

To save changes, press F2, y, Enter.

Note: wallet’s passphrase is secret, don’t share it and keep your server secure.

It is not necessary to put delegate’s passphrase in the config file. Instead, you can run command to create a delegate with --passPhrase option.

Run installed console:

and create a delegate (replace <new delegate name> with the one you prefer):

Or, if you haven’t set delegate’s passphrase in the config file:

You will need 3,000 ADM on the wallet (with the passphrase you specify, this wallet becomes a delegate) balance as a fee for registration. This amount goes to the network—other delegates will forge it.

If the delegate is registered successfully, you’ll receive a message similar to:

Press Ctrl+C twice to exit Adamant-console.

To start forging on a node, you need to update the node’s config:

Change forging/secret parameter to your passphrase (twelve words) put in quotes.

To save changes, press F2, y, Enter.

Then restart a node:

Registering as a delegate is not enough for token forging. You will need to receive users’ votes. Read more to understand the dPoS concept.

Users can vote using the Messenger apps.

If it’s green or filled green, everything works fine. If it’s grey, yellow or red, make sure you’ve set up the delegate correctly. Check the passphrase in the node’s config file, and restart it.

Keep your node active, track delegate’s rank, and keep up with the major updates.
