Chromebooks have been around since June 2011. Over the ages, people have tried them, and people have left them behind. Some have found them to be adequate for productive work, and some hate them just because.
What is there to be had from this affordable hardware that is especially geared towards schools and students?
First of all, a quick look at the hardware:
The specs won’t blow you out of the water — certainly not. However, in conjunction, they provide an appropriate real-world experience. Hence, I don’t look at benchmark numbers.
For the lean price of 148 €, there isn’t much I can complain about.
Especially the battery life is astounding. I easily get half a week out of it. Plus, I never turn it off. I simply close the lid, and it switches into sleep mode.
The build quality doesn’t leave much to be desired either. The chassis feels a lot like aluminum, but misses the cold touch. So, I’m assuming it’s coated plastic.
The typing experience is surprisingly pleasant. Coming from a MacBook Pro 2014, I didn’t feel like sacrificing a lot.
