Heads Up for Musos and Musings

ART & MUSIC

I just can’t get enough

You can’t miss it. Seriously. Just don’t. If you love music, that is.

I’m watching it again. Maybe the again after the last again. I’ve lost count.

It is simply, wonderful. Marvelous. Inspiring. Fascinating.

I never particularly liked NIN to be honest. The bit I heard on the Natural Born Killers soundtrack (brilliant soundtrack) was fucking hardcore. I like hardcore. The principle of it anyway. But I’m a romantic at heart and enjoy a good melody. Busted.

I do want a NIN t-shirt, please.

The logo is astoundingly awesome, and my dad’s pet name for me was Nin. It shall be mine… one day.

I speak of NIN here, because this series, Song Exploder, has an episode with Trent Reznor talking about the creation of “Hurt”.

I’ve had my own battles with addiction, and the demons that caused the ruckus, and this man’s journey and experience of the world resonated with me profoundly. Some of us seem to be able to share far better, and far more easily, with out art.

This song speaks of this…

Here is the official video, but I urge you, strongly, to rather watch the new version on Song Exploder, because the video is something to behold. Astounding work and production. Mesmerizing. Truly.

In fact, I’m not even gonna post the old one. Or share the lyrics. In case you miss this… no spoilers! (is that cheating?)

I can’t quite believe I did miss this, and his lyrics, for so many years!

The man is a fuckin’ artist.

It’s not surprising to me that Losing My Religion worked out like that at all…?

Huh?

Thanks for your reading time!
